Hi, I'm Janet (most people call me Jan) and I am a full-time professional photographer/studio owner based in the NW Ohio/SE Michigan area. I began my photography journey in high school and have been enjoying every minute of this crazy wonderful career ever since. In the span of my career, I've photographed over 4,400 weddings, tens of thousands of seniors, families, babies, pets, sports teams, corporate work, head shots, and just about anything that needed photographed. I have been blessed with the most wonderful clients a person could ever hope for and that is an amazing and wonderful thing!
This is the spot that I'm supposed to say that I'm cool and love coffee, but I'm me and a cup a day is plenty good. I'm more of an ice-cold Coke person. =) I can't change the fact that I'm not 30, but I swim 200+ miles a year and walk 3 miles most every day. If I could give up sugar, I'd be skinny, but hey, we all have our "thing" and after this long in the business, you can't blame me for my addiction to wedding cake, right? As for me personally, I'm a mixture of many things. I enjoy life and family and friends and people. I have a beautiful English garden, which is so convenient for family, senior, and children's portraits. I have been many things in my life; studio owner, a teacher of photography, a builder of guitars and banjos, for sixteen years I had a great Americana/bluegrass band whose original music is played nationally and internationally to this day. I'll admit that my life has been anything but boring and I did all of this while running one of the most successful and time-honored photography studios in the Toledo area. I love flowers, old houses, my dog and kitty, old friends and new ones as well. I have enjoyed every moment of my photography career and have survived the many ups and downs of life and business, with the lessons that each day brings.
I love my people and will move Heaven and Earth to make sure that everyone has the best experiences. At weddings, after 4,.447 (to date), I stay in a calm manner, knowing that every wedding has it's "moving full speed ahead" moments and the "stand back and allow things to happen naturally" moments throughout the day. I'll direct you when I need to. I have hundreds of images in my head and come knowing exactly what style you are dreaming of because we meet and talk about it. I am not the center of attention, YOU are. I am not prima donna and I certainly won't yell at you to smile. I won't be pushy, but I do know that at times we have to stay within the parameters of your schedule, so guiding you without stressing you is a more accurate description. I love weddings, I love senior and children's and every kind of photography. I can't say it any more succinctly than that. I'm blessed to have fantastic partners (second shooters that are talented enough to be first shooters) with me when we photograph our weddings. Between the two of us, we will cover your day like you could never imagine. We dress professionally, because we are professionals, suits or semi-formal attire. We arrive at weddings or sessions fully equipped with many pieces of backup equipment.
My style is natural. I love romantic, fun, beautiful, lovely portraits, and fun and natural candids. I love going anywhere, especially new places, for wedding, engagement, senior and family portraits.
Together with "on the job training" and many hours studying with the Masters at the prestigious Winona School of Professional Photography and at dozens of seminars and classes through the Professional Photographers of America, I've become the photographer that I am today. I am continually learning and adjusting and staying on top of the latest trends in photography, while using the knowledge that comes from experience to create the kind of work that you have dreamed of. I'm a great mixture of timeless, non-cheesy, fun, beautiful photographic styles, mixing every facet of each wedding or portrait to create the most wonderful end result. I want you to fall in love with your images and be proud to share them with your loved ones and friends. I want to be the one you call when you need photos, whether it be wedding, baby, family, or senior portraits. I have been blessed with the most incredible clients, and I never take that blessing for granted. We have photographed everyone from Steve Forbes to Bill Monroe, to royals from London, weddings and family portraits from Toledo to Oahu, Maui, Kauai, California, Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Arizona ….and so many places in between! We've photographed some of the most prestigious weddings to the most intimate weddings and everything in between, all absolutely amazing! Traveling is fun, but I love Toledo, NW Ohio, and SE Michigan weddings, they are my mainstay. We are located 3 miles north of the state line in Lambertville, Michigan, and we service most of Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana on regular basis.
If you need "creds"; I am past president of the Professional Photographers of NW Ohio, served on the board of the Professional Photographers of Ohio and NW Ohio, am a member of the Professional Photographers of Michigan, and I lifetime member of the Professional Photographers of America. I taught photography for 33 years, and have won many, many, MANY awards for my portrait and wedding images in Ohio, Michigan, and West Virginia.
My staff and I will give you our all and more to make sure that you have the best experience ever. We absolutely love working together with our clients, gathering ideas and plans and having a wonderful time making those plans a reality. We want you to walk away from our time together smiling and knowing we just made some amazing images that you will treasure for a life time. =)
God has certainly blessed my life, and I am so very thankful.
